tuesday treats

the pleasures of a grand cupcake selection. i am tempted to have them delivered as the chilly-ness of the day may force me to stay indoors and skip out on lunch time fresh air. this would be a sure treat for everyone...i love suprises, especially when they are coated in all sorts of sweetness!

i found this picture of the street i once lived, i love this picture. as the wind is howling at my window this evening, and it feels as though my home will be pulled from the earth and hurled into flight at any moment, i remember the weather at another time, place, space.

finders keepers market

this is so aweseome!! i got excited just looking at the amazing treasures. i truly wish melbourne is granted this incredible gift in market form. finders keeps market is a platform for emerging designers, artists & musicians to showcase their work amongst a supportive and creative environment.

i am 100% excited about locally produced and independant design, art and music in every sense, and what a beautiful opportunity for the creators to gain exposure and for us to experience the creative seed sprouting from our cities...

perhaps a flight hunt is on the cards for the brisbane market! here i come....!!

a drop of inspiration on the day that sits in the middle of the week.

my favourite pic from the sartorialist today. not sure why, its just soft, and right now, i want to feel like the way she looks.

The Title Sequence - Lovers

The Title Sequence - Lovers

I L.O.V.E THIS TRACK!!! I AM THE HAPPIEST I HAVE BEEN IN A GA-ZILLION MINUTES!!

to the dude with the cool tattoo

although you didnt make the nice hot drink, you took my order in a pleasant manner, and i am very pleased that you are sporting a rad ghost patrol image on your arm. so many blurry faced people along the street this late afternoon it was nice to see a smiley face. sometimes that is all i need to motivate my mood. to all of the lovely coffee makers at my favourite morning destination, this is for you...because today i was lacking coins, was given the gift of a coffee and enjoyed a jolly laugh....

tim burton exhibition

will be super.

p.t mode

i had to swiftly shuffle to my tram stop this morning with a newspaper as a hat. this is due to the unstoppable downpour of rain. i would have used an umbrella if i had one to use, and i may have even driven to work if my boyfriend didn't drive my car. however this is not a day to complain nor to stress you with my stresses. it's true, there is nothing worse than listening to someone cry whilst explaining their not-so-fatal dramas. life could be worse. my tram could be on fire.

there is no need for tears this morning.

i am listening to 'foals' at this moment. strange choice, it could be too early, though they have that nice balance that is keeping me motivated, but not making me wish to be living it up somewhere else. they seem to have just the right amount of ambient background noise. i like them, their sound takes me back to when my home was london. my immediate reaction when i heard foals in 2008 was their likeliness to bloc party, though there early stuff, not the new bloc party (cough cough) .

so my mode of transport is running slightly under time. i have also noticed a girl in front of me is reading 'twilight'. i guess her bandwagon was running late also.

what's the tuesday mood exactly?

i have a day off work today. last night i had made many grand plans with myself as to what my day was going to bring. i have woken up, dabbled with a pen, eaten some porridge and soaked myself in 3 cups of coffee. all whilst couch bound. my day will progress into something else greater, soon, i hope, however for now i am indulging in a little mix tape. i like to think of it as procrastination escapism. its all happening in my apartment today, dance moves and dish washing.

on a semi-serious note, here are some bands that i am loving. some old some newer, however they are exciting me into taking risks and being sweeter to my fellow friends. listen and im sure you will enjoy.

AVI BUFFALO

perhaps its because they draw such comparison to the shins that i adore them. you could say there are a number of almost recognizable riffs on this album, however they are far from typical. the fact that this sound has been produced by a group of people so young (some just out of high school) will continue to fascinate me and prolong my following.

here is a video of 'whats in it for'.

DM STITH

HEAVY GHOST

whatever you want to call it: experimental folk - freak folk...i fell in deep when i heard this. its like a combination of grizzly bear, andrew bird and bon iver. his work is created in his basement, and he incorporates things from his immediate environment to help create sounds. that is what struck me the most. perhaps knowing that creates a more eerie vibe to the music for me.

this is a clip of 'BMB'. i wonder how it will make you feel...i remember how it made me feel....

VOLCANO CHOIR
UNMAP

so whilst im posting indie-folk types today, i thought this one would be perfect. volcano choir are the divine side project of bon iver. this clip is so simple, though i just cant seem to turn my head away from the image. love the subtlety in the way it ends.

this is 'island, is'.

THE OCTOPUS PROJECT
GOLDEN BEDS

this is my final post of what has been my tuesday loves. this is the octopus project and they are without a doubt my new favorite. they have transformed my mundane working hour into a fresh holiday. golden beds is their EP. my next job is to purchase their previous album 'hello avalanche'. it makes me happy, simple as that.

this clip is 'wet gold'

any fun - coconut records. 'davy' (jan 2009)

ahh. so rad. i cannot stop listening to coconut records...
i love a good dose of indie pop.
this clip is directed by mark gonzales and features my favourite lady, chloe sevigny.

jason schwartzman is awesome. seriously. if you havent heard much/any of his musical solo work, please purchase a copy of 'nighttiming' (2007).
it will not disappoint what your music library is craving.

p.s i can hear a little bit of ben kweller in his sound. perhaps that is another reason why it rocks me.

girl. band of horses. deck.

my next purchase. sweet find.

for fran.

cramming ourselves into the tiny little space that was the street/studio book launch last night at the atrium, i was well excited to guzzle wine and indulge in a little 'super-star' spotting. it was an awesome turn out, and im sure ghost patrol and miso had achey hands after all of the beautiful book signing. i waltzed out with book in hand and head in the clouds x

now my own personal copy sits safely on my shelf with the knick knacks.

patti smith

i always get a spark of inspiration when i listen to patti smith. maybe it is me imagining that i am patti smith. the free flow of ideas is relevent and needed for this moment.

friday nights for wine and cigarettes.

flair flair flair

i love these pieces. i can only imagine how heavenly they will feel...my favourtie is the 'pamela double cage ring' (bottom left) x

ALISON MOSSHART

- f*ck fashion, lets smoke menthol"

half of one of london’s most celebrated punk-rock alt bands, mosshart has her hardcore stage persona down.

's' is for spectacles

alexa chung cannot put a foot wrong in my book. she is forever suitably adorned in cool. found these specs on asos.com x

Next Wave Festival 2010

its that time of the year again. i love this delicious array of diversity in performance. this years next wave theme is 'no risk too great'

Here, Jeff Khan, Next Wave’s Artistic Director, outlines his theme for the 2010 Festival:

...In a wider culture of risk management, how prepared are we to make decisions that are brave, courageous or transgressive? Where is the line between our own personal, moral and ethical worlds, and the codes and principles which circulate in the broader context of contemporary culture? What is our capacity to draw, hold or cross this line? What are the real risks of our time, what are the risks worth taking, and what is our role as individuals, and as artists, in relation to them? How can we act boldly and imaginatively, in art and in life?

Bunny got Nailed

this weeks favorite thing! (as seen on marina from 'marina and the diamonds') i saw this fairground cardigan and had to get my paws all over it. it features a chunky woolen hand knitted design and gorgeous grandpa style slouched pockets. o so fun. a big thank-you to emily. you have many treasures in your store.

street/studio book launch

friday 4th june
federation square atrium

this excites me! i love ghost patrol. this book is all about the street art movement into the mainstream. an amazing insight into 10 of australia's most creative and influential artists. this friday is the launch and book signing. o...and to top it off, a few ghost patrol original watercolours are hidden in 10 copies of the books...best to get in quick smart x

The Clientele - Bookshop Casanova
